On working with consciousness

I have always been very interested in making sense of consciousness and the theory of mind. I guess that is what brought me to study psychology and philosophy in the first place, which then led me to study Sanatana Dharma and the world of indigenous ancient wisdom.

It is surprising at times to see the reductionistic approach of our materials, empirical society, and science and how removed they are from the possibility of something beyond what the eye cannot see. And that was the place where I wanted to be, where I was willing to explore and get my head around…even if it was against the paradigm.

It is incredible to explore and experience the alternative theories and realities developed by other cultures, with a very clear set of steps and processes to dive into the unconscious and evolve into the Consciousness with a big ‘C’. Breathwork, yoga and the different states/ types of meditation, trance dance, extreme cold or cold, even extreme pain, and the use of the medicine plants, to name some, had been the key to opening other doors to perception, doors to other worlds and other realities. Places where what you are and what you believe in this paradigm are turned upside down in the blink of an eye, where new possibilities, outcomes, and ideas… flow in ways that are sometimes ineligible for the current human mind. But also, they are the doors to our fears, darkest secrets, programming, and places that we have blook or tried to forget that are revealed and open again with the aid of these techniques or substances.

There is where the real healing happens when you are able to rewrite the programming in your consciousness, in the matrix of who you are, the Self. Then you can keep evolving in your states of conscience and in making sense of this world that doesn’t really make sense at times; then is when we can go one step further in sensing and integrating the Sacred truth that the Vedanta tried so firmly to tell us with their conceptualisation of ‘Maya’ or ‘illusion’ and then suddenly the vails start to fall, and we can see beyond.
